What is the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
The Sheriff’s Advisory Foundation is a non-profit, Section 501(c) (3) public benefit corporation formed to provide funding and additional support to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department and of other law enforcement agencies in San Luis Obispo County.
Why do we need a Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
San Luis Obispo County operates on a budget that must be divided among all county services. With the continued growth of the county, there is not enough money in the budget to provide all of the sophisticated, costly and updated equipment and personnel needed.
What are the Goals of the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
The Sheriff's Advisory Foundation has the expressed intent of augmenting and supporting county law enforcement agencies. The money given helps support the purchases of needed equipment, training sessions, K-9’s, scholarships, and other projects. The Advisory Foundation has both short and long-range goals. The most immediate goal is to expand our membership to provide the needed funds to support law enforcement agencies in San Luis Obispo County.
A long term goal of the Advisory Foundation is to provide local Advanced Law Enforcement Training programs for law enforcement agencies in San Luis Obispo County. The Advisory Foundation finances training programs presented by professional law enforcement instructors. By providing quality training in the local area, local law enforcement can minimize personnel time, tuition, and travel costs while receiving the benefits of enhanced, quality training, resulting in keeping the residents and visitors in our community in a safer environment.
